IELEVMUN’25
13-15th of June
From the Secretary General
Dear Participants,
It is Selim Uraz Gedikli, the first Secretary General of IELEVMUN. As the Secretary General, I would like to welcome all of you to our first ever Model United Nations Conference.
Since this is the first MUN Conference that we are hosting, this journey was like an uphill battle. But I must express my sincerest gratitudes to my beloved comrades, who haven’t ever let me down. We were all amateurs at the beginning but with time both our idea of bringing this conference to life and we, as individuals, have matured.
People assume that an IB student can’t provide the extra time needed for this academic project. But this was something more than just “academics” for each of us. I am not a fan of exaggeration, but I should explicitly mention that there were both tears and laughter.
I hope that we did a wonderful job in order to ensure your welfare throughout our organization. The main reason for participation should be improving yourselves. However, I encourage you to address humanitarian conflicts, importance of the lives of civilians, alliances, and promises that have been made and broken, multinational conflicts and most importantly peace, while protecting human rights with respect.
Lastly, I wish a joyful conference for each participant. We will always be open-minded for any possible improvements. And I want to conclude my letter with a quote from the second Secretary General of UN, Dag Hammarskjöld:
“The UN was not created to take mankind to heaven, but to save humanity from hell.”.
Best Regards
Selim Uraz Gedikli
Secretary General of IELEVMUN
